Turning Indicator

Dear fellow drivers,

I have for you today, a word of the day. See below.

Turning indicator - Also called: blinker -- a device for indicating that a motor vehicle is about to turn left or right.

I hope this clears things up.

If not, I'll be happy to give lessons. For free.

Thanks,

Katie

Letters

Dear neighbors,

Contrary to popular belief per the noise coming from my apartment, I am not hosting the next edition of WWF Raw. If you happen to hear something that sounds like two 250-pound men body slamming each other on the floor, don't worry. It's probably just me watching Mississippi State basketball. And Saturday, that is why you thought there was an 5.1 magnitude earthquake happening on Shades Mountain because I was just a bit frustrated that WE COULD NOT HOLD ONTO THE BALL OR GET A REBOUND.

Sincerely,

Suddenly way more passionate about MSU basketball than football

Dear Conan,

The past week has been one I'll never forget. I mean, I've always found you hilarious, but this week just took the cake. I've enjoyed your jabs at NBC and Jay Leno and if they kick you out and you move to FOX, you'll have at least one fan moving with you. Besides, I was a broadcasting major and, 2.5 million viewers sounds pretty darn good to me for a show that comes on while most people are going to sleep.

Love,

Someone who almost peed her pants laughing at least one a night this week

Dear NBC and JayLeno,

You both screwed up. Jay, you gave your show to Conan. You can't take it back. It's called indian giving. And on the playground, that's like the worst thing you can do. Your show at 9 p.m. wasn't successful because it wasn't funny. And you are up against shows like Real Housewives of Orange County and 18 Kids and Counting. What do you expect? That's real entertainment. NBC? I think you should consider that you are toying with people's livelihood here.

Sincerely,

Team Conan

Dear Tony Romo,

I have to say, I was rooting for you. I was hoping you'd put Brett in his place. But, again, you just couldn't get it done. Let's hope Drew and Reggie can make it happen next week.

Love,

Bummed in Birmingham

Dear Jarvis Varnado,

You've made me fall in love with Mississippi State basketball all over again. You are my hero.

Sincerely,

A faithful fan forever

'Roid Rage

Dear A-Rod,

You should have known. Don't you know that in this day and age, medical records are never confidential, emails are never eternally deleted and pictures on your MySpace page can get you in a whole heap of trouble? Although, your almost-in-tears confession on Monday's Sportscenter was semi-endearing, I just can't get past the fact that you are actually friends with Madonna. It had to have been a side effect of the performance enhancing drugs, right? You couldn't see clearly? You weren't thinking straight?

Anyway, you and all the other juice boxes out there, take my advice. Blame the first guy. If he hadn't started doing it, then all the others wouldn't feel the pressure to "up their game". Now it's a vicious cycle.

I wish you'd all just try being yourselves for once. Who cares if nobody likes you then, right? No. Okay.

But I'll leave you with two words: work ethic. That's how I got where I am.

But then again, I'm not playing major league baseball.

Letter to Darius Rucker

Dear Hootie,

I know your not really Hootie and that's part of the name of the band and all, but I can't help but call you that now that you've sold out and become a country artist. Why, Hootie, why? You don't even sound country. I saw you last night on Christmas In Washington and nothing about you seemed remotely "country". What is the deal? Why does every artist turn country when their career has turned south? Please Hootie, come back to me. Bring the old Hootie back. Let her cry, Hootie. Just let her cry.

Wondering what went wrong,

Katie

Dear November...

Dear November,

As much as it sucks sometimes, cloudy and cold is where you belong. Stick with it. Today is good. Remember that time, my sophomore year of college, when you brough rain every Thursday. Yeah, let's not repeat that. But as long as you know that 55 degrees should be your maximum, we're good. I have a lot of cute sweaters and coats in my closet that are screaming to be worn, but they won't get their moment in the spotlight if you don't deliver. Seventy degrees is not accomodating. Remember that.

Sincerely,

Relishing in the cold weather which makes me get more in the holiday spirit.
