It Must Be Video Wednesday...
I figured since its 22 degrees outside, it's perfect weather for a summer video. Ha. I was looking through some videos on my computer and realized that I made this video of our family vacation and never posted it. So here it is. I hope thoughts of the beach warm you up on this cold night.

You Want Me To Put Bananas Where?!?!
There was a lady on Live! With Regis and Kelly the other day who was demonstrating home hair remedies with fruits/foods and other organic things. My thoughts? I spend all day working hard enough to get the food in my mouth rather than on my clothes and in my hair. Why would you think that I would voluntarily mash up bananas and smear them in my hair for a softer feel. My Aussie shampoo and conditioner work just fine, thanks.
P.S. Sorry for the complete lack of blogging. I spent all of last week (like Saturday to Saturday which hasn't happened in a while) at the beach and I'm still trying to crawl out from under my vacation hangover. But give me a few days and I'll give you a little peek at my cutie pie roommate, the thing I checked off of my bucket list and our kite-flying extraveganza.
Until then...

Back In The Saddle Again...Only Until Thursday Though
So I'm back from the beach and I brought a little sumn' summ' back with me. Wanna know what it is? Nope. Not sand or seashells. Ok, ok. A few clothing items I picked up from the outlet but that's not what I'm talking about.
Give up?
I brought back some sort of string of the Bubonic Plague. Ok. Not really. But I woke up Monday morning feeling like I'd swallowed the fire of a thousand suns. And then I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been hit by a freight train.
So, I think it's safe to say that Katie is not in good health.
I knew this would happen though. And here's why. I'm flying out to NYC on Saturday for a mission trip with my parents' church. It's a choir trip. Which means there will be singing. Of which I will be partaking in. And I will be singing a solo in one of the pieces.
I always get sick before I'm supposed to sing somewhere big. Always. Examples? Don't mind if I do.
1. Tenth grade. First big solo in Colonel Classics. Had to relinquish it because I seriously could not get the notes out of my mouth.
2. Eleventh grade. Lead role in the school musical. Two weeks before I got sick and barely got my voice back by opening night.
I could go on. But I won't.
So, I'm pill-popping like tomorrow is the last day that the world will ever sell prescription or over-the-counter drugs. In moderation, of course. No habits here.
Whatevs.
On to the really good stuff. You people didn't come here to hear me whine about my sickness. You came to see pictures of the cuteness that is Sir William Charles Johnson, a.k.a, the nephew.
We got down to the beach (Orange Beach, Ala.) on Thursday evening and I left Monday evening to get back to work today. I got a great tan, bonded with the nephew and the fam, and relaxed somethin' big. I also found a new favorite place to eat. Ribs & Reds. Best royal red shrimp I've ever had.
Anyway, on to the pictures. I don't have any of me because I was too busy taking them of my nephew. I think my dad has a good one of me and William. Hope to get it soon.
This is my favorite thing ever.
This is such a classic picture. I used to love doing this.
This kid loves showing his teeth!
And of course, the beach picture. Please excuse the naked man at the bottom left. I promise he had shorts on and he totally crashed my picture party here.
Anyhoo. There ya go. I'll be back again this week with some bloggity goodness. Hopefully.

Wednesday Randomness
I'm sitting at work bored again. I ran out of things to do. So I thought I'd blog about excitement in my life.
This weekend I move into a new house. It's Kel, my roommate's. She thought since she's 30 now, she should actually be a homeowner. She offered for me to live with her and pay a very reasonable rent (much, much, much lower than any apartment I had found), so I didn't dare argue. It's a cute little house. Definitely built in the 60's/70's era and not so much updated since. Still cute though - 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, huge kitchen and eating area, living room and den, fenced-in backyard with deck (yay!), dishwasher (double yay!) and the only bad thing is not so much closet space (boo!). We are pretty pumped. Kel's a little scared. It'll be fine. Her dad is coming to re-do the whole bathroom and put drywall up in the kitchen over the hideous, splintery wood panelling. I'm starting the move tomorrow night. The "rents" are coming up, hauling a fridge (since we have to leave ours in the Samford house), a cheffarobe (I hope I spelled that right, it's a big dresser with a mini-closet in it), and a big trunk that belonged to my Papaw. I'll finish moving Friday after work and Saturday and then send the parents back home and then I'm off to...
Tampa! I'm flying down on Sunday for my first CoSIDA (College Sports Informations Directors of America) conference. I'm excited because I get to see my sweet friends Kyle, Tony and Kevin who will all be there for the same reason and I can't wait to hang out with my boys. Plus, it's freaking Tampa! Mandi also lives there and I can't wait to hang with her. It's been a long time. We are going to the Devil Rays/Red Sox game on Tuesday night. Can't wait for that! One step closer to fulfilling my life-long dream of seeing the Red Sox play at Fenway. It's not Fenway but it's definitely the Red Sox.
I fly out Wednesday and get back to The 'Ham around 1:30ish in the afternoon and then go to the new house re-pack and get ready to go meet the fam at Ft. Walton Beach the next day! I'm so pumped! We didn't get to do the family vacay to the beach last year because the sister was big-time preggers and I went to Honduras. I'm so glad to be going back this year and to be spending the Fourth of July with the family on the beach. It's William's first beach trip, and let me tell you, the kid is prepared. He has an outfit for everyday, cool new toys and a swimsuit with matching hat and glasses to last him for a few trips out to the shore a day for five days. Mom is especially excited because we will get to take the classic family beach portrait where everyone wears white. She even made me go buy a white shirt because I have shirt that is white, except for t-shirts.
I'll, of course, have to cut the trip short and go back on Sunday while the family stays until Wednesday but such is the life of a full-time gal now. I will be officially full-time at Samford being July 1 and so, at the end of July, I'll get my first BIG check. It may not be big to most normal people but to this girl who suffered through two years of an internship that was pretty much a full-time job, it's going to be BIG.
Hopefully, I'll have lots of fun pictures to share and maybe I'll even get to update while I'm in the Sunshine State. I'm so excited! I hope everyone has a great Fourth!
