Death By Country Music

What is it about softball/baseball that makes people want to play every bad country music song ever made?

If I were a fan, I'd just leave, but nevertheless, I have a job to do and I'm afraid I will die a country music death. My readers should know by know that I'm that big a fan of all the country music. It annoys me. Old school Dixie Chicks and Carrie Underwood is about as far as I go.

I'm afraid that by the end of the day, I will have thrown all common sense to the wind, abandoned what I'm really here to do and throw myself over the side of this balcony/make shift press box.

That is, if I don't get beamed by a ball first.

Have I mentioned I'm afraid of round objects smaller than a football hurled at me at exceedingly fast speeds? That's why I never took up the sport. I know I'm not a good catcher and I value my eyes, nose and mouth and teeth ...and the money spent on them. Thanks to the parentals.

If I somehow escape the hands of country music and runaway softball, it is possible I could catch my death of cold...or pneumonia. It's crazy cold outside and I'm downwind.

Say a prayer.

P.S. I've decided to give up carbonated drinks for Lent. That is, Cokes especially. I'm not a Lenter. I've never done this before. And I'm three days late starting. But our small group challenged each other and I think I'm in.

Pros: Possible weight loss and healthier complexion.

Cons: Irritability and headaches.

My Jesus, you're worth it.
